Getting around GoProject

The sidebar, spaces and projects, Home and My work, search, language, theme and your profile.

The main navigation in GoProject is the sidebar on the left and the bar along the top. This article shows where to find what you need and how to adapt the application to the way you work.

The sidebar

  • Home: a dashboard set up by system administrators, with a greeting, the work assigned to you, upcoming due dates and what you viewed recently
  • Calendar: your personal calendar of work that has dates
  • Portfolio: every project you are on, whichever space it is in
  • Goals: the projects' goals and the progress made towards them
  • Time: the time tracking overview
  • Help Desk: the help centre, where you can raise a ticket with any Help Desk you are allowed to use; the row is shown only when there is one
  • Spaces: the space you are working in, with up to five of your projects in it underneath. Click the space to switch to another of your spaces; View all spaces in the same menu lists them all
  • Dashboards: your own dashboards and the ones shared with you
  • Search for items: the search page
  • Filters: your saved filters; starred ones are pinned here

Drag the edge of the sidebar to make it wider, or shrink it to icons.

The top bar

  • The search box (Search work items, spaces, people...), also opened with Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on a Mac). Type a key, a word or a name, or run a command such as Go to My work or Go to profile
  • Create opens a menu: Work item opens the new work item form, Risk registers a risk where you may, and Quick task notes a small task for yourself. Press C anywhere outside a text field to open the work item form at once
  • The bell opens your Inbox and shows how many entries are unread
  • Your picture opens the account menu: Profile, My quick tasks, Dark theme or Light theme, and Sign out

Spaces and projects

A space is where a team works or a product is managed. It holds projects, and every project has a key that prefixes its work items, for example PAY-234. Open a project to see its tabs. Which tabs you see depends on the modules the project has switched on: Work items and Status are always there, and Team on every project that is not a Help Desk, while Gantt, Calendar, Sprints, Releases, Testing, Documents, Google Drive, Security levels, Risks, Acceptance Certificate and Check-in appear only when that module is on (Testing and Acceptance Certificate also only for people who hold the permission). A Help Desk project also has Help Desk and Reports tabs. If a tab you expect is missing, ask the project administrator whether the module is on.

In a space's list of projects, Keep in sight in a project's menu puts it first among your projects in the sidebar. The bell beside Project settings mutes the whole project for you.

My work

My work (from the search box: Go to My work) gathers everything that is on you: overdue, due today, blockers, what is assigned to you, what you filed and what you follow. Pick a view at the top; priority and assignee can be changed right in the rows.

Your profile

Open your picture, then Profile.

  • Profile picture: PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF up to 2 MB, cropped in the browser
  • Personal details, Work details and Contacts: name, display name, job title, department, manager, phones. If your organisation's directory manages them, they are read-only here
  • Language: English, Latvian or German. The whole interface switches, including status names that have been translated
  • Time zone: the zone you work in; it decides what counts as today in your lists, such as My work
  • Calendar subscription: a private link for Outlook or Google Calendar (see Time tracking, calendar and absences)
  • Notifications: which ones you receive in the inbox and by e-mail, and what is muted
  • Messages in Slack and Teams: your news as a direct message, when your administrator has connected them
  • Change password: at least 12 characters unless your administrator has set other rules, which are shown as you type; other sessions are signed out. Directory accounts must change their password in the directory
  • API tokens: personal keys for your scripts, when the administrator allows them
  • Google account: for projects that read Google Drive with each person's own account

Two-factor sign-in

When two-factor authentication is required, Profile shows a Two-factor authentication section (and you may be stopped at sign-in until it is set up):

  1. Open an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Bitwarden or 1Password.
  2. Scan the QR code, or type in the key shown under it.
  3. Enter the six digits shown in the app and choose Finish setup.

From then on the sign-in screen asks for a Six-digit code. If it also offers Get the code by e-mail (or Send a code to with your address), a code can come to your address instead; it is valid for 10 minutes.

Forgot your password

On the sign-in screen choose Forgot password?, enter your work e-mail and choose Send the link. The link can be used once and for a limited time. Directory accounts must change their password in the directory.
