GoProject vs Asana

Asana is a cloud service for coordinating tasks and team work. GoProject is made for teams that need defined workflows, detailed access rights, a Help Desk and the option to run the system in their own infrastructure.

Why teams move from Asana

The problems we hear most often, and how GoProject addresses them.

  • “A task sits in a section, but it is not clear what status it is really in.”

In GoProject each work item type can have a workflow of its own, with clearly defined statuses and transitions. A work item moves only along the allowed transitions, within the conditions and checks that are defined.

  • “Our security requirements call for keeping the data in our own infrastructure.”

GoProject runs in your data centre, private cloud or isolated network. The system needs no telemetry and no connection to the LTECH infrastructure.

  • “Test cases and test runs live in spreadsheets beside the tool.”

Test management is built in: test cases with steps and expected results, test plans, and cycles for regression, smoke and acceptance tests, run step by step. A failed test becomes a bug on the spot, and every cycle is tied to its release.

  • “IT tickets need yet another tool.”

The GoProject Help Desk includes queues, SLA deadlines by working calendar, a customer portal with organisations and a mailbox of its own for each Help Desk.

  • “It is hard to find out what happened to a task earlier.”

The GoProject search builder supports AND, OR, brackets and the history of changes. Save a filter, share it with the team or use it on a dashboard.

Where Asana is ahead today

We say this openly too. In these areas Asana offers more today, and GoProject still has work to do.

  • A polished interface that many teams already know, and iOS and Android apps.
  • AI capabilities in the paid plans.
  • A wide range of integrations, and no server environment of your own to maintain.
  • The interface is available in more languages; GoProject offers English, Latvian and German at present.
  • A free plan for personal use and SAML support in the higher plans.

Moving from Asana

Import the data straight from your Asana workspace. Connect Asana with a personal access token. Projects are moved as projects, sections as statuses, and completed tasks land in the Done status. Subtasks, comments, files, watchers, custom fields, logged time, labels, milestones and dependencies are moved as well. Asana rules can be rebuilt after the move with GoProject automation.
